Individual Therapy

Life has a way of getting out of control.

For many reasons, life hasn’t always been kind to you.

Part of the human experience is to live the best we can, but life sometimes has other plans and throws us some wicked curveballs. Those curveballs come in all flavors – relationship problems, achievement of personal goals, experiences from the past, coping with current issues, and a host of other problems.

We don’t see those curveballs coming, but boy, they hurt.

Exploring how you feel and finding solutions to issues that bother you requires more than talking to family and friends. You need to experience a place where you can feel safe, express your feelings without judgment, and have someone listen for a change.

Therapy provides that safe space.

Alright, it’s time to experience a place where you can feel safe and feel the feels!

So, I’m sure you may be wondering what happens when you enter the therapy room. Where do I start? Well, the first thing to know is that you are in control, and it’s your space.

I will say something along the lines of “so what brings you in,” and you may or may not know. The best part is that you are in control of the goals we set, not your family, not your friends – you are in control.

Goals can be from talking about relationships, past trauma, or interacting with someone who can help you clear things up. In the end, this is your space, and we will navigate the goals and learn new skills at your pace.

Another thing we can talk about is…

…that inner critic who tells you that you can’t possibly do this! It’s the critic that says, “No one cares. Therapy never works, especially for you. Don’t fool yourself; no one will deal with your s**.”

That inner critic doesn’t tell you anything productive. It shames us and makes us feel as small and incompetent.

Well, that’s something we navigate in therapy. That is when I come in and help replace that inner critic with a voice of confidence.

We will embrace ourselves and return to the point where we lost our safety and comfort, rebuilding from there.

So now what?
