About Therapy

Enough is enough.

The way you feel isn’t like you, and now you are over feeling like things are out of control. A part of you might feel like you should know what to do. After all, you’ve made it this far in life.

Do you want to know the best thing? You don’t have to do it alone anymore.

If you’re still reading this, it’s not because my writing is captivating. It is because you seek to heal and are ready to do the work.

I get it; life doesn’t stop because we feel “off.” You picked up different habits to help you get past the hard times throughout life. You might even tell yourself to brush it off, power through, and be grateful for what you have. Now it’s time to try something new.

“It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.”

What it’s like working with me?

Well, it’s more than showing up, and magic suddenly happens. Therapy takes work, but it is so worth it.

The fact is that you have a lot of strengths that have carried you through this wild thing we call life, so my job is to shed some light on those strengths and help you use them once again.

There will be homework, challenging questions, and crazy new skills that might seem odd, but please trust me when I say it’s the small things that make the most significant changes.

Therapy is not just a job for me – it’s my calling.

From serving in the military to working in hospitals, county mental health, school settings, and group practices, I’ve learned how I enjoy working with people seeking growth. Life isn’t always kind to us, so let’s be kind to ourselves.

About Nercy

Through my training and experience, I am prepared to help you.

I earned dual Masters degrees – one in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and the other in Professional Clinical Counseling – from Azusa Pacific University in 2018. I also have marriage and family therapist licenses and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.

I am trained in different modalities because I genuinely believe that one size does not fit all. Therefore, my training includes a variety of modalities, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Level I, and Emotionally Focused Therapy Level 1, Theraplay Therapy, Sand-tray Therapy, and Non-directive Play Therapy.

These trainings have allowed me to work with kids, couples, and individuals from all different cultures. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and I’m seeking to be fully certified as an EMDR therapist. On a different note, I am a trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

More importantly, I enjoy making connections with others; I love watching others grow, enjoy a good laugh, and thoroughly enjoy my work.

When I’m not doing therapy…

My best friend, Valkyrie

I strive to maintain a balance because life is more than work. Trust me, this attitude wasn’t always the case, but I finally had a great “aha” moment about needing to honor all parts of me.

My go-to is spending time with the family! Watching anime/movies, going to the gym, lifting something heavy, or learning how to run and not pass out are great ways to enjoy my time. Either way, I am happy to say California has a lot to offer this Brooklyn kid.

I mean, you can’t live in California and not go on its trails. So, now and then, I will leisurely walk my dog (cardio and I are not friends) and take in the sights.

My military experience taught me that complacency could make a person stagnant. This way of viewing life is something I still practice. I always like to try new foods and books and change the scenery, which is a beautiful experience.

Why therapy rocks!

Therapy works. Yeah, I may be biased, but I am OKAY with that. I get to witness people find themselves again, which is fantastic to experience.

Most people tend to live on autopilot. Therefore, to have someone like you walk through the door and want to make a change is honestly amazing! So welcome.
